Local Author Series: Robert C. Shoemaker, M. D.

Claremont physician Robert C. Shoemaker will be at the library on Thursday, October 12th. at 7:00 PM to talk about his book, A Surgeon Remembers: Korea 1950-1951 and the Marines and his experiences as a Marine Battalion Surgeon during the Korean War. Dr. Shoemaker graduated with the M.D. degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1949. Following an internship at St. Lukes Hospital, Cleveland, Dr. Shoemaker served as Battalion Surgeon with the Third Battalion, Eleventh Regiment, First Marine Division in Korea. After leaving military service Dr. Shoemaker served a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and subsequently practiced medicine in Hanover, NH, Rochester, NY, and Claremont, NH.
