Sweet Freedom's Songs

On Thursday, July 12 at 7 pm the Friends of the Fiske Free Library and the Claremont Historical Society are co-sponsoring "Sweet Freedom's Songs," a performance of 19th century vocal music by Deborah Goss of Brattleboro, Vermont.

The program will feature anti-slavery and women's rights songs, poems, and prose that were widely heard in the years leading up to the Civil War. Of particular interest to New Hampshire audiences are several songs written and/or sung by the renowned Hutchinson Family Singers of Milford.

This program will be held in the library's Gilmore Room and is free and open to the public.
