Nobel Prize Winner Naguib Mahfouz Dies

Naguib Mahfouz, winner of the 1988 Nobel Prize in Literature, died today at the age of 94. Mahfouz, the first Arab writer to win the Nobel Prize, was best known for his "Cairo Trilogy", detailing life in ancient Cairo.

We The People: "Becoming American"

Learn how to design and make a simple Family Tree in this craft program for children in grades 2 through 6. Join us in the Children's room on Thursday, September 14th at 3:30 PM for this fun and informative program. This program is offered in conjunction with the Library's We the People grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association.

Summer Fun at the Library

Fossil Workshop for Children

Learn about fossils and sift through your own fossil "dig". You will be able to find and keep your own fossil in this hands on workshop presented by Julianna Manat. Workshop will be held on Thursday, August 17th at 10:30 AM in the Gilmore Room at the library. Suitable for children in grades 2 through 6. Those Amazing Waterbugs

On Thursday, August 10th at 10:30 AM, Jan Lambert of CCD Programs will present a program about bugs that live in the water. Participants will get a chance to view up close the special appearance and behavior of insects adapted to pond and stream. This program is suitable for ages 6 and up.
